If you can follow a simple cookery recipe or make a cup of tea you can make your own cosmetics. That said, there are a few rules to follow:

· Use glass or ceramic cookware.
· All utensils and containers must be scrupulously clean. Remember, you will not be using preservatives, so before use, wash bowls and pans in hot soapy water, then dry in a low oven (think jam jars).
· Buy some dark glass bottles and jars with tight fitting lids to store your products. Light can cause some products to deteriorate.
· Have labels handy and always add the date the product was made. Cosmetics made without preservatives have a shorter shelf life.
